Hourly chauffeur hire and city transfers. A car and a driver reserved for you, in the heart of the capital.
Chauffeur service in central Rome
Rome is a difficult city to drive in and an expensive one to park in. Much of the
historic centre sits inside restricted traffic zones that private cars simply cannot enter, and rental
cars are frequently ticketed by the automated cameras before the driver realises what happened. Hiring a
private driver in Rome removes the problem entirely: a Mercedes with a professional
chauffeur stays with you for as long as you need it, at a rate agreed before departure, with no meter
running.
SM Limoservice operates as a licensed Italian NCC service
(noleggio con conducente, chauffeur-driven hire) with vehicles authorised to enter the
restricted zones of the historic centre. We work with business travellers, families visiting the city,
travel agencies and hotel concierges who need a service that is predictable, punctual and presentable.
Drivers wear a suit, speak English and Italian, and know the city well enough to route around the
Lungotevere when it is blocked.

💼 Business & Shopping
The ideal solution for those with multiple business appointments or who wish to shop without parking stress.
Hourly hire is the most flexible way to use a chauffeur service. You book a
minimum block of three hours and, within that block, the schedule is yours: three stops or ten, a change
of destination halfway through, luggage left in the car between stops, the driver waiting outside a
restaurant or a meeting room. The chauffeur stays with you and the vehicle is not assigned to anyone
else.
Time is counted from the pickup you agreed for your first appointment and stops
when we drop you at your final destination. If the day runs long, that is not a problem: additional
hours are charged at the same hourly rate agreed at booking, with no penalty and no improvised
surcharge. This is the format we recommend for working days with several appointments, tailored
sightseeing, shopping around Via Condotti, or evenings that end at an unpredictable hour.
For a single journey between two addresses, a city transfer is
the better value: one fixed price, door to door, with no minimum duration.
NCC or taxi? The practical difference
Italian law treats the two categories differently, and the distinction matters in
daily use.

In short: if you need a car right now for two kilometres, a taxi is quicker to
find. If you want to know the cost in advance, arrive in a vehicle you can put a client in, or keep a
driver for half a day, a chauffeur service is the correct choice.
The fleet
We run two vehicle classes, both Mercedes-Benz and both serviced on schedule:
Mercedes E-Class — Business Class configuration.
Business Class
Mercedes E-Class or S-Class. Up to 3 passengers with hold luggage, leather interior, separate climate
zones, complimentary water and USB charging. The usual choice for business transfers and couples.
Van & Minivan
Mercedes V-Class or Vito. Up to 7 passengers with luggage, individual seats and generous legroom. The
natural option for families, small groups and anyone arriving from the airport with large cases.
Where our clients go
The requests we handle most often in the city are hotel-to-office runs between the
centre and the EUR business district, journeys to private clinics and medical centres, evening transfers
to restaurants in Trastevere and Prati, and full sightseeing days that combine the Vatican, the Colosseum
and the Trevi Fountain without ever looking for a parking space.
Three consecutive hours. Below that, a fixed-rate city transfer is better value and carries no minimum duration.
What happens if I go over the hours I booked?
Nothing problematic and no penalty. Additional hours are added at the end of the service at the same hourly rate agreed when you booked.
Can your vehicles enter the restricted centre of Rome?
Yes. Our vehicles are licensed to enter Rome's restricted traffic zones and to use the reserved lanes, 24 hours a day, at no extra cost to you.
Is the quoted rate final?
The rate is agreed and confirmed in writing before departure. Prices shown include Italian VAT (10%) and may vary for night service, always communicated in advance.
Can I book the same driver for several consecutive days?
Yes, and it is a common request for business trips and longer holidays. We apply a dedicated rate to multi-day bookings — send us your dates and itinerary.
How do I pay?
Cash, all cards, bank transfer and PayPal. For companies and agencies we issue an invoice with 30-day terms by prior arrangement.
